Moonwing
Dick Grayson
Amalgam of Nightwing & Moon Knight & Robin [Tim Drake]
Former freelance adventurer turned special CIA operative, young
Grayson caught the attention of S.H.I.E.L.D. Director Bruce Wayne. Seeing
great potential in the former circus acrobat, Wayne requested he be transferred
to S.H.I.E.L.D. Suffering from Multiple Personality Disorder, Grayson also
assumes the identities of high-flying crime fighter Tim Drake and costumed
mercenary Marc Spector. Though frequently confusing, the skills exhibited
by all three personalities are valued by S.H.I.E.L.D.
The moon symbol Moonwing's costume comes from the high-wire
act his circus family once performed, a celestial celebration in which young
Dick played the man on the moon.
Kid Demon
Wally West
Amalgam of Wally West [Flash/Kid Flash] & Ghost Rider [Dan Ketch?]
Unwilling to let his uncle, Blaze Allen, take on supernatural
forces alone, young Wally West decided to help him. Using Blazes book of magic
spells, he made a soul-swapping deal with the evil sorcerer Merlin similar
to the one which metamorphosed his uncle into the rhyming Speed Demon. Transformed
into the flaming Kid Demon, Wally helped Speed Demon defeat his demonic rival,
Night Spectre and save the soul of Blaze's love, Iris Simpson. But or a terrible
cost - now poor Wally is cursed with the devilish essence of Night Spectre!
Mercury
Pietro "Pete" Allen
Amalgam of Impulse & Quicksilver
Born in a future era, Pietro was menaced by the mutant-hunting
Sentinels of his time and found refuge in the past, sparking a war between
the Sentinels of future and past with the New Blood caught in the middle.
His super-speed timing can't keep him finding his foot in his mouth as he
seeks to conform to this new era.
Pietro is distantly related to Blaze Allen a.k.a. Speed Demon,
and it is rumored that he may still have a little of the old demon in him
as well.
Dare
Slade Murdock
Amalgam of Deathstroke & Daredevil
Slade left the world of high-powered international law when
the rules wouldn't allow justice. Trained by her failed fighter father [Winterstick],
she can, although blind, outfight men twice her size and think her way around
the smaller ones. She teamed up with Catsai when the two had been hired to
eliminate each other and decided to kill the client instead, the start of
a beautiful friendship. Slade lost an eye after a long and grueling battle
with the strange shape changing addict, Nuke, although she had lost her eyesight
to radioactive chemicals in a government experiment years before.

A time-traveler from a bleak, apocalyptic future, the cybernetic
mutant Niles Cable plans on manipulating key events in the present to prevent
his dark future from becoming a reality! Knowing that he would need help in
his crusade, Cable recruited a team of mutant outcasts - the X-Patrol - to
aid him. With his future knowledge he knows that X-Patrol will became heroes
of legend.. and will also all die glorious deaths!
But with each successful adventure, Niles's past changes more
and more, making it less likely that his future-world will ever come to be!
X-Patrol Members include Elasti-Girl, Shatterstarfire, Dial H.U.S.K., Beastling,
Jericho, Ferro Man and Terra-X.
Shatterstarfire
Princess Koriand'r of Tamojoron

dropped our of the sky and rescued her from an enemy ambush! To save her life,
the Arch-Kid dragged the Princess kicking and screaming to Earth - something
she will never forgive him for. So the one person who might return her to
Tamojoran is the one person she refuses to speak to!
Possessor of the energy bolts that are her regal legacy, the
proud Princess considers herself superior to all others. Those foolish enough
to disagree may get a taste of her double-bladed battle sword.
Beastling
Hank Logan
Amalgam of Changeling [Beast Boy] & Beast
When Hank Logan caught a rare tropical disease, the young mutant
was given an experimental cure that had an unforeseen side effect - it mutated
a mutant! Hank became a green furry beast with the ability to transform into
a variety of monstrous forms but without altering his brilliant mind, effervescent
personality... or penchant for bad jokes!
Although Beastling makes jokes about Niles Cables' X-Patrol,
it's what he always dreamed of - a group of misfits just like himself.
Dial H for HUSK
Paige Guthrie
Amalgam of Dial H for HERO & Husk
While exploring a cave near her Appalachian home, teenager Paige
Guthrie found a mysterious dial device that activated her mutant ability to
shed her skin! The device also gave her the ability to transform into a new
hero, with different powers, each time she changes the dial. This change lasts
until she aligns all the dials to twelve o'clock at which point she sheds
her skin to reveal the real Paige once again! But with guise upon guise, Paige
is still trying to uncover who is the REAL Paige is underneath the skin.
Paige's first superhuman persona was a being composed of ionic
energy: Wonder Girl!

Hawk & Dagger
Amalgam of Hawk [Monarch] and Dove & Cloak and Dagger
mention only in Exciting X-Patrol #1
Beastling explains, "Remember Hawk & Dagger? We trust
him, he kills her, then goes psycho-mon?"
Terra-X
Amalgam of Terra & Terrax
Terra-X, a brash teenage mutant with the ability to transform
into rocks and dirt - was welcomed into the ranks of X-Patrol. But Terra-X
betrayed the team, delivering them into the hands of X-Stroke the Eliminator!
Terra-X was later captured by Brother Brood and reborn - serving
the Brood! Despite pleas from her former comrades, including 'best bud' Beastling,
Terra-X had only vengeance on her mind. When all attempts to reason failed,
she was defeated by Elasti-Girl.
Jericho
Niles Dayspring
Amalgam of Jericho & X-Man & Blok??
Jericho - a mystery man who showed up one day on the arm of
Elasti-Girl- was the newest member of X-Patrol after the betrayal of Terra-X!
A distrustful X-Patrol was wary of the mysterious rock-skinned telepath, but
Elasti-Girl instinctively trusted him.
The reason became apparent when Jericho's true identity was
revealed during the final battle with Brother Brood: Jericho was actually
'Niles Dayspring' - a younger Niles Cable sent from the future to save the
past!
Raveniya
Amalgam of Raven & Aliya
In the far future, Raveniya the healer was part of the clan
Ashkani, who kept alive the essence of lost heroes. She came to know and love
Niles Cable, before becoming Trijenskot the Warrior and dying in his arms.
When Niles lay trapped in the Brood Pit, Raveniya appeared to
him and later helped destroy Brother Brood ultimately - only to disappear!
Has Raveniya truly returned? Or is it possibly a guise of Paige's HUSK dial?
Brother Brood
Amalgam of Brother Blood & the Brood
Once he was the charismatic leader of the parasitic cult of
blood, but this unholy man found true power by allowing himself to be taken
by the alien Brood Queen. Now he is Brother Brood!
When Brother Brood tried to secure a power base in the fetid
island nation of Zenosha, his plans were thwarted by X-Patrol. Brother Brood
was ultimately destroyed by Raveniya's soul self.

AMALGAM COMICS (August 1995 & March 1996)
These incredible tales twisted two universes into one, creating super heroes
like Super Soldier (an amalgam of Superman and Captain America). Co-published
with Marvel Comics.
The big secret of the Marvel versus DC crossover is the combination of both
universes at the end of Marvel versus DC #3 to create Amalgam Comics. This
means interesting combinations with Marvel and DC heroes. With 12 books to
its ranks (the only superhero books both publishers ship that week), the Amalgam
titles feature art and stories from some of comics' top Amalgam creators.
Among the more interesting "amalgamations": Super-Soldier (Superman/Captain
America), Spider-Boy (Spider-Man/Superboy), Dark Claw (Wolverine/Batman) and
Dr. Strange-fate (Dr. Strange/Dr. Fate).
AMALGAM COMICS: Surprise Hit
[from Wizard #65, 1997]
The Amalgam Universe took readers completely by surprise because Marvel and
DC had really only stoked fans for the majorly hyped Marvel versus DC/DC versus
Marvel mini-series that began last December. It pitted major Marvel heroes
against major DC heroes in a four-issue series billed as "The Showdown of
the Century," allowing fans to vote for key match-ups in issue #3. But at
the end of that issue, the two universes collided to create a new universe,
populated with characters sporting bits and pieces from both Marvel arid DC
characters. The result was 12 one-shot issues released in the last week of
February by "Amalgam Comics." Fans absolutely loved them.
The titles consisted of Bullets and Bracelets, Magneto and the Magnetic Men,
Speed Demon, Spider-Boy, X-Patrol and Bruce Wayne. Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. from
Marvel, and Amazon, Assassins, Doctor Strangefate, JLX, Legends of the Dark
Claw and Super-Soldier from DC. The most popular of the bunch were Dark Claw
(combining Batman and Wolverine) and Spider-Boy (a rollicking amalgamation
of Spider-Man and Superboy).
"I think the fans liked it because it had never been done and it was oriented
to long-time readers," says Ron Marz, who wrote two of the battle issues as
well as Dr. Strangefate. "Newer readers could enjoy the basic jokes, but older
readers got a kick out of everything, from the background characters to the
letters columns. And the creators could go all out because it was a one-issue
commitment"
At the time, both Marvel and DC vowed the event was a one-time deal - but
they hadn't counted on it being such an overwhelming hit. So in October, Marz
again was at the helm as the Big Two rejoined forces for All Access, a four-issue
series featuring Access, who was created when the worlds went smoosh. "The
Amalgam Universe is always in danger of returning if someone stays too long
in the other universe," Marz explains. "Access' job is to ensure that doesn't
happen" And with rumors escalating of a possible Amalgam sequel sometime in
1997, fans and creators have plenty to look forward to. "I hope and pray this
will be a continuing event," Marz says. "I'd love to do another. They're so
much fun"
