Goth

GOTH
The secrets of Goth are revealed in SINS OF YOUTH SECRET FILES #1 [2000]

Do The Limbo

Years ago, the Teen Titans were called upon to provide security for a rock concert taking place in the town of Eden Crest. The performer was a rock star named Limbo, who kids idolized and parents feared. Limbo incited a riot at the concert, which was contained by the Titans. The riot was actually a diversion. Limbo was actually trying to acquire an anti-aging formula, which was being worked on at Cardy Research Center. The Titans thwarted his plans and Limbo was not seen from again.

Behind the scenes, "Limbo" was actually a demonic creature trying to acquire the anti-aging formula for the Contessa. "Limbo" made a sinister practice of enticing kids towards a path of social apathy and violence. Over the years, "Limbo" assumed different guises, each latching onto a persona that would prove charismatic to the young. Over the years, the demonic creature has assumed the (known) guises of Limbo, Grunge, Rave and most recently, Goth.

Dissed By Goth

As Goth, he's a horror film actor that takes his role to the extreme, wearing his ‘make-up' 24 hours a day. Goth flirts with concepts of mortality, death and chaos – often intriguing teenagers with his dark demeanor. Nightwing became suspicious of Goth when a string of murders mirrored the plots of Goth's movies. As the Titans engaged Goth at a horror convention, the team was transported to Goth's portion of ‘hell', known as Dis.

In Dis, all residents have immortality, but start to lose the ability to care about anything. Goth had already lured hundreds of kids into Dis. Nightwing deduced that when an individual started caring about something in Dis, they were expunged and returned home. The Titans were eventually able to save the kids when Starfire put Goth in jeopardy. As all the kids idolized Goth, they cared he was in danger and were instantly transported home.

Goth nonetheless continued his villainous ways. When the Titans were effected by Klarion the Witch Boy's aging spell, Goth once again plotted against them – and allied himself with the Contessa once again. To this end, he created a new army of ‘upgraded' Wildebeests. These Wildebeests looked like their predecessors, but once unmasked, were revealed to be actual Wildebeest-looking man-monsters. Goth commanded the new Wildebeests to attack JFK International and Grand Central Station. The Titans eventually defeated these new Wildebeests.

Goth Gone

Sometime later, Goth attempted to channel powerful dark magic, and was destroyed as a result. The Justice Society found only his charred corpse, with a gaping hole in his chest.

Goth is powerfully charismatic, with millions of teenagers in his sway. The character he plays in his movies has the ability to create and throw flames, a talent for inducing mild trances, razor-sharp claws and teeth, superhuman strength, and various other "demonic" powers.

The Hangmen

THE HANGMEN

The Hangmen heralded themselves as the next generation of assassins, and what they lacked in subtlety, they made up for in sheer firepower. Unhindered by inconvenient traits like honor and principles, the Hangmen were motivated by one thing: money.

The Hangmen were hired by nationals from Quarac, a Middle Eastern country, to assassinate the terrorist known as Cheshire; Years earlier, Cheshire had bombed the nation of Quarac as a display of power. The Hangmen targeted Cheshire's daughter, Lian Harper. But Lian was saved by her father, Roy Harper, the hero known as Arsenal.

During the Infinite Crisis, the Hangmen allied themselves with the Secret Society of Super-Villains. Ever the opportunists, the mercenary group used the Society's full-scale assault on Metropolis as a cover to loot the city. When Dr. Psycho discovered their duplicity, he psychically forced a group of citizens to literally tear the Hangmen limb from limb!

The membership included:

BREATHTAKER: A devious American girl who can control the wind, using it to suck the air out of her victims' lungs-the perfect way to kill someone without leaving behind any evidence.

PROVOKE: A sadistic Australian who can dominate the mind of one person at a time. He uses this talent to "convince" people to commit suicide.

Titans #21-22 [2000]: The Titans have never met anyone quite like the assassins know as the Hangmen! Their ultimate target is Cheshire, but to get to her, they've targeted her and Arsenal's daughter, Lian. Lian's babysitter, Chanda, is torn when Quaraci nationals approach her for aid. Meanwhile, they hire the assassin Deathstroke - and it's Arsenal vs. Deathstroke for the life of Cheshire. During the melee, Cheshire avoids capture. First full appearance of the Hangmen in #21.

The Consensus

The Titans learn the secret behind The Consensus in TITANS #50 [2003]

The government approached the Titans over the destruction of U.S. satellites by their former teammate, Starfire. Starfire insisted her destruction of satellites was to stop an invasion by the alien collective known as The Consensus - slipping into the world's consciousness via radio and television signals. Troia and Jesse Quick located Starfire, and they believed the threat of The Consensus was real. Meanwhile, the remaining Titans have fallen under the influence of The Consensus.

Starfire, Troia and Jesse Quick remained unaffected by The Consensus by blocking its influence with tinfoil hats. When the collective Titans encounter the alien being responsible, the other Titans are able to break free of its mental control.

Lilith discovered the alien creature that gave the Consensus its collective opinion is acting on its own, using the people of earth as its army against the remaining humans not under its thrall. The alien was broadcasting the thoughts of a Utopia trapped in another brain-dead alien's mind. Nightwing and the other Titans forced the evil alien into the beam transmitting The Consensus thoughts - thus exposing the creatures evil intentions to the earth's populace. This broke The Consensus' hold and wiped the mind of the evil alien.

Titans #48-50 [2003]: Starfire makes her dramatic reappearance on the American super-heroic scene... by going on a rampage in a vain attempt to destroy every satellite dish in America to stop the alien threat known as The Consensus. If the Earth is to survive, the Titans must destroy the Consensus - and the alien creature that gives the Consensus its collective opinion. But it won't be easy, since the entirety of a brainwashed humanity doesn't share the Titans' point of view!
